Dr. R. Stanton Norman
BCTM Founder
The Baptist Center for Theology and Ministry exists to provide theological and ministerial resources to enrich and energize ministry in Baptist churches. Our goal is to bring together professor and practitioner to produce and apply these resources to Baptist life, polity, and ministry. The mission of the BCTM is to develop, preserve, and communicate the distinctive theological identity of Baptists.
In 2002, Dr. R. Stanton Norman, who currently serves as the Provost of Oklahoma Baptist University, founded the Baptist Center for Theology and Ministry based on his deep passion for theology and his love for Baptists. His publications include his works on Baptist distinctives and theology, More Than Just A Name: Preserving Our Baptist Identity and The Baptist Way: Distinctives of a Baptist Church. His forthcoming book, The Mission of Today's Church, is a product of his ministry at the BCTM.
Dr. Norman geared the Baptist Center towards important dialogue between theologians, SBC entity leaders, and local church leadership. In 2003, the Baptist Center published its first online journal. In 2004, the Baptist Center held its first conference on church polity.
